Cycling
Every July the Tour de France passes close to Mille Fleurs which makes us a perfect location for viewing an exciting mountain stage. In 2010 on July 20th, Stage 16 passes over the Col de Peyresourde, the Col d'Aspin and the Col de Tourmalet. You can also come to Mille Fleurs at any time and cycle the roads ridden by Armstrong or ride out into the flatter country to the North.
Those famous mountain passes are all close by. The Col d' Aspin and the Col du Tourmalet are about a 45 minute drive away and the Col de Peyresourde is about 70 minutes. The times given are to the start point for cycling up each Col.
Cycle the Tour highlights at your own pace during the day and then eat, drink and be merry in comfortable surroundings in the evenings. You can choose to eat here at Mille Fleurs or you can explore the local towns. Accommodation for cyclists consists of two twin bedded rooms with en suite facilities and we have a secure bike store.
As well as the route of the Tour, the area offers many miles of fabulous cycling. Not only is the countryside beautiful but the cyclist is well respected in France by motorists. The law requires drivers to allow a two metre gap when overtaking cyclists and as this law is mostly obeyed it makes cycling here very enjoyable.
Our nearest airports are Pau, which has a daily flight from Stanstead, and Toulouse, with flights from 6 UK airports including Gatwick. We are about 10 hours from Cherbourg and about 11 hours from Calais.
